Brighouse Town took the lead, but a manic 10 minutes saw The Hornets score three for the victory.
Manager Daniel Moore started himself at centre-back, while Liam Murray and Joe Walton also came into the 11.
Hebburn started well as Murray saw two efforts blocked, while Olly Martin fired into the goalkeeper’s grip from distance.
The game slowed as the heat took its toll, with Bobby Pointon cutting inside before poking an effort low at Shaun Newbrook.
Jack Boyle got into a good position before the break for the hosts, but he powerfully fizzed his shot over the bar.
After the break, Hebburn should’ve levelled as Liam Henderson muscled off the defender and slipped through Murray who tapped home, but the referee believed the offside Amar Purewal had intervened.
Elliot Harrison nearly got Brighouse’s opener on 52 minutes, meeting a cross at full stretch but his effort bounced across goal.
On his debut, Bradford City loanee Pointon broke the deadlock for Brighouse after the hour.
The forward latched onto Callum Charlton’s pass and slotted past Newbrook at close-range.
The Hornets then had two penalty shouts as Murray and Henderson went down, but the referee waved play on.
With 74 on the clock, substitute Sean Reid got Hebburn’s equaliser after Murray sensationally worked the ball across goal, giving the midfielder a point-blank header.
Three minutes later, Murray got his goal as Purewal’s header was clawed into the youngster’s path at close-range.
Martin made it 3-1 on the 82 mark, latching onto Purewal's pass after he intercepted the ball in the final third and finding the bottom corner.
The Hornets stayed resolute for the final knockings, ensuring Moore's first league game ended in a win.
