Hebburn missed out on the chance to secure the NPL East Division title on home soil, as their long winning run came to an end with a 1-0 defeat to Ossett United on Tuesday night.

It was a tale of two penalties, with Amar Purewal seeing his spot kick saved at the end of the first half, before Adam Priestley converted for Ossett soon after the restart.

Sheffield were in action 24 hours later as they lost 2-1 at home to Grantham Town. Sisal Tuntulwana gave the visitors the lead in the first half, before Harry Olivant doubled their advantage just after the hour mark.

Cameron Johnson pulled one back from the penalty spot with just over 10 minutes left but they couldn't find an equaliser and remain in 11th place.

Hebburn know that a win would secure the title although anything else would give Stockton Town the chance to leapfrog them.

Head-to-Head

In the reverse fixture, Hebburn ran out 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Dean Briggs, Liam Noble, Amar Purewal and Leo Robinson.

Last season's meetings between the two sides brought a pair of 2-1 home victories.

In August, Hebburn emerged victorious on home soil with Liam Henderson and Sean Reid netting in the second half to overturn Connor Cutts' opener.

In the reverse fixture, Joshua Burns gave Sheffield an early lead before Benni Ndlovu doubled their advantage with less than five minutes remaining. A late Purewal penalty was not enough for the Hornets to salvage a point.

Hebburn had secured the double over Sheffield in the previous campaign.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Hebburn Manager Daniel Moore looked ahead to Saturday, "we'll give the same effort, if you can get down and support us and we'll do everything we can to bring that league title back."
