Hebburn Town head to Pontefract Collieries on Tuesday night in league action (7:45pm KO).

THE LOWDOWN

Both sides got off to an excellent start in the Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division on Saturday, with Hebburn coming from behind at Brighouse Town.

Goals from Sean Reid, Liam Murray and Olly Martin ensured The Hornets claimed an opening day victory at the Yorkshire Payments Stadium.

It was a great response for Hebburn who were previously knocked out the Emirates FA Cup to Sunderland RCA on August 6.

Pontefract, meanwhile, cruised to a 4-0 home victory over Grimsby Borough at the weekend.

Joe Lumsden grabbed a hat-trick for The Colls, while former Liversedge marksman Gavin Allott also found the net.

Craig Rouse's side also have a cup win under their belts, beating Garforth Town 1-0 on the road.

PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS

"They're a good side at home," commented player-manager Daniel Moore on Pontefract.

"They score goals and have good centre forwards - they were difficult to play against last year and didn't deserve the position that they were in.

"We'll have a look at their Grimsby game, and see what players we have available.

"We'll go down there confident - we've just got to keep working hard for each other and sticking together."

LAST MEETING

Hebburn have met Pontefract five times since 2019, including three cup ties, losing four and drawing once.

The last encounter came at The Green Energy Sports Ground at the start of February, when Pontefract's Ben Turner headed a corner into the net on 77 minutes for a narrow win.
