Tuesday night's encounter between Hebburn Town and Dunston is the real meaning of a six-pointer. Hebburn's winning streak continued at the weekend with a 2-0 victory on the road at Brighouse Town - not as many as the six put past the same opposition on home soil a few weeks earlier, but another clean sheet to add to the growing tally.

Arron Thompson had put the Hornets ahead in the first half, before Robbie Spence made the points safe late on to see them leapfrog Dunston in the table and into second place.

That was because Dunston lost 3-2 at home to Carlton Town having twice had the lead in a match played at Morpeth Town's Craik Park.

A Daniel Brown own goal had put Dunston in an early lead before the sides exchanged blows just before half time. Jude Swailes put through his own net to bring Carlton level, but Dale Pearson swiftly restored the home advantage from the penalty spot.

Alex Harwick's penalty ten minutes after the restart brought the visitors level again, and in the dying minutes of the game Nathan Watson completed the turnaround.

Head-to-Head

The last few meetings between the two sides have been low scoring affairs. Earlier this season, Hebburn grabbed the three points thanks to Amar Purewal getting the only goal on the hour mark.

The honours were even last time out at Hebburn Sports Ground, with Liam Murray scoring soon after the break to cancel out Dale Pearson's opener.

Earlier that season Hebburn had secured a Boxing Day victory at their rivals, with Purewal again the game's only goal scorer.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Hebburn Manager Daniel Moore said ahead of the game, "I don't think I need to prepare them for that. They know what kind of game it's going to be."

On Dunston, Moore continued, "they are a very good side, and they are where they are because they deserve to be. They're very dangerous going forward so we'll have to defend even better than we have done in recent weeks. It's a good game for the North-East. I'm looking forward to it."
