We are delighted to announce an annual pre-season Rainbow Cup game in memory of the FA Vase Final.

During the Covid pandemic, Hebburn Town FC and Consett AFC participated in the FA Vase Final at Wembley (3rd May 2021).

At that time, the pandemic threw a lot of challenges towards both clubs none more so than the devastating news that neither fan base could attend the FA Vase final itself to enjoy a momentous occasion for each club due to the lockdown measures in place by the government.

The two clubs worked together tirelessly to overcome the many challenges together and came out stronger, whilst also creating a really close bond and relationship that has continued to grow ever since.

Both clubs also recognised the fantastic work locally across each of their towns from volunteers, the NHS and many other organisations, this work at the time was highlighted colourfully by Rainbow Bows being erected across the towns, painting a wonderful community spirit for all.

As a result of the ongoing relationship, the clubs have now agreed a annual pre-season friendly game in memory of that the FA Vase Final and the fantastic work by all volunteers during the pandemic with the newly named “Rainbow Cup” (The cup itself was donated to the club from Karen Knight-Collins - “The Hebburn Bow lady”) a truly fantastic gesture.

Hebburn Town FC will host the first game of it’s kind on Saturday 3rd August 2024 at Hebburn Sports Ground (3pm KO).

We encourage supporters of both clubs to come along and enjoy the fantastic community day and the match itself as we re-tune the FA Vase final.

Both clubs have agreed to make a donation to a local charity of choice from the gate entry monies collected at these games as a reminder of the important part they play in their local communities.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.
