THE LOWDOWN
Hebburn are back at The Green Energy Sports Ground for the first time in April as we host Ossett in our penultimate home game of the 2021/22 season.
With two games coming up in three days – we welcome Jas Colliver and Mark Ward's men prior to a short Dunston trip.
The Hornets have failed to win any of our last three games, picking up one point out of a possible nine in a mixed bag of results.
Kicking off April with a last-minute penalty which grabbed a point away at, then, league leaders Marske looked to have started the final month of the season in good stead.
However last week’s disappointment was fuelled with a frustrating defeat against the other side of the table, bottom placed Pickering, away at Mill Lane.
Visitors Ossett currently sit in 8th, and after a difficult festive period for The Sheepicorns, they have found solid ground winning four of their last six – however all coming on home turf.
The West Yorkshire based side are unable to reach the play-off positions, but they did sting Worksop Town's hopes last weekend with a 1-0 win courtesy of Ify Ofoegbu.
PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS
Unhappy about last week’s defeat, caretaker boss Simon Harris wants to move on from it but with the possibility of implementing new ideas.
“People have to come in and earn the shirt, and there is a case players have not done that so we could look to change it,” he stated.
“We’ve only got one week left of training so we haven't got long to try and improve it but where we can, we will look to do so.”
“The focus is to get the quality and the standards where we need them to be – it has probably dropped off if I am being honest, and that can't happen.
"It is not the end of the season yet, we have still got games and points to play for.”
LAST MEETING
Hebburn suffered defeat last time out against The Sheepicorns, seeing all three goals scored in the first half in a 2-1 loss.
The deadlock was broken as early as six minutes at Ingfield, before Nash Connolly bagged his second on 21.
Amar Purewal then tapped home for The Hornets from Kieren Aplin's cross for his first of the season just before the half-hour mark.
Mark Foden was continually tested but managed to prevent the hosts from regaining their two-goal lead, and Olly Martin's rejected penalty claims deprived Hebburn from bringing it level.
