The Lowdown

Hebburn are back on the road on Friday night as they hope to follow up Saturday's 3-0 victory over Carlton Town with another positive result at Newton Aycliffe. The Hornets sit 2nd in The Pitching In Northern Premier League East division with 18 points accumulated from their eight games so far, and are only behind leaders Belper Town on goal difference.

Aycliffe meanwhile sit down in 15th place with nine points accrued from as many games. Last time out, Brian Atkinson's men suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brighouse Town. Liam Adamson's 90th minute goal merely proved a consolation after Mohammad Qasim and Jack Normanton had struck early in the second half.

Head-to-Head

It's a few years since Hebburn and Newton Aycliffe met in league action. The last competitive meeting was back in March 2020, when just before the Covid pandemic started disrupting football at all levels, Hebburn brought three points back to South Tyneside to complete a league double over Aycliffe. Michael Richardson netted a first half hat trick, which was added to by Cedwyn Scott before the break. Liam Jarvie did get one back for the home side at the start of the second period, but they failed to add to it despite Andre-Vasile Ardelean missing a late penalty.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Hebburn Manager Daniel Moore expects to face a "tough" test on Friday night. "I went to watch them on Tuesday. They're a very resilient, young, energetic side. They throw bodies forward, so it'll be a tough game. It's a localish derby, we haven't come up against them for a couple of years, so it'll be an interesting game and one I'm looking forward to."

On his side's preparation ahead of the game, Moore continued, "we take every game as it comes. We'll prepare during the week. It's nice with no midweek games that you can get a couple of training sessions in, prepare for the game and the lads should be full of confidence after today's [Saturday] performance."

Venue Info

The game will take place at SecuriCorp Stadium, DL5 5AG . Tickets are available on the gate (cash only), with entrance costing £9 for adults, £6 for concessions and £3 for juniors. A free digital programme will be available to download.
