Gainsborough Trinity vs Hebburn Town

The Hornets travel away this Saturday, where they are to play Gainsborough Trinity at home. This weekend’s game looks to be particularly thrilling, as both teams given their positions will fight hard for three points.

The Hornets come into this game with a must-win mentality, as the new prospect of a relegation battle looms, following a one all draw with Mickleover, which saw the side officially relegated, and Hebburn dropping to 14th.

The Hosts Gainsborough trinity, who currently sit at 8th place with 55 points have only won two out of their last six games, with their most recent result being a 2-0 victory over Ashton United, which saw both Declan Howe and Lewis Butroid score.

Trinity will look to keep the momentum rolling come this Saturday’s fixture.

Thinking Tactically:

Upon review of last week’s fixture against Mickleover, the hornets implemented a more aggressive right wing of attack, which saw Joe Posthill use the ball more for high pressure attacks, followed by Olly Martin who, in his Attacking Midfielder role, presented more opportunities for Hebburn to score. Striker Amar Purewal also used his technique to drop back to a false 9, which allowed him to connect both wings and central midfield attack meticulously well. This was able to completely overpower the Gainsborough attack and keep it at bay, until the scored which in itself, was unfortunate.

If The Hornets keep the same possession-based attacking play, they should be able to deal with the notoriously slow trinity attack, which will open up countless opportunities for the hornets to net past Gainsborough, which should be enough to give Hebburn a crucial three points.

Player to watch:

After an incredible performance last game, goalkeeper Dan Cameron is on top form, and will undoubtedly deny Trinity any attempts on goal. Like he did against Mickleover, a triple save in the last few minutes of the game not only kept the Hornets in the game - but through his distribution into the last attacking third, poised The Hornets for a brilliant last minute scoring opportunity.
