Junior's Chairman Gary Henry gives Christmas Message as the year comes to an end

Evening all,

As we reach that point of the season with all our games & training coming to an end for the year I would like to start by saying thank you to all our players, parents, grandparents & carers for their continued commitment in 2023. Without all your support I’m not sure we could do this as well as we do.

We are obviously only half way through the 23/24 season (barely for some teams with all the rain postponements) but it's still been a great start with many teams seeing success. Our new u7s teams have settled well and are doing fantastic whilst enjoying their first season in 5v5 football. At the other end of the pyramid our u18s are having a great start to their season and enjoyed representing the club in the FA Youth Cup.

Sadly we have recently seen one team having to stop playing due to different reasons and we wish the players, coaches and parents well for the future. A lot of them who had been with the club for 10 years or more. As a club though we continue to expand year on year with over 770 individuals representing the club on the pitch.

I’m sure all the younger kids and many older kids are now patiently waiting for the big man to come (no not me before anyone says it) and it's been great to see many of our teams donating their club selection boxes to Hebburn Helps and other charities. As a club we pride ourselves on seeing the impact we have on the local community and the generosity shown never ceases to amaze me each year.

A massive thank you to all the volunteers on the Junior Executive Committee and of course the 140 volunteer coaches for their continued help this year keeping the club running on a daily basis. It’s not all training and matches, a lot goes into keeping the club going and being a volunteer sometimes seems like a second full time job for many. The effort does not go unnoticed.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope you all have a great New Year. Here’s to a wonderful 2024 for all.

Gary ‘Gash’ Henry
Hebburn Town Juniors Chairman
