Lady Black Cats will play games at The Energy Check Sports Ground

The football club are delighted to share the news that they have agreed a partnership with Sunderland AFC Ladies to host a number of home games throughout the 2019/2020 season at The Energy Check Sports Ground, the home of Hebburn Town FC.

The ongoing developments at the clubs home ground have caught the eye of quite a few within the local football scene and as part of the club's growth in the community they have explored opportunities to bring more than just non-league football to the town.

With a thriving girls section with the clubs junior section (10 all girls teams) and to promote the ladies game then the opportunity to host SAFC Ladies games was a no brainer. The initial agreement is for the club to host five lady Black Cats home games throughout the 2019/2020 season with a view of more games being added to the schedule.

Club Director of Football Stephen Rutherford said: "We work very closely with the professional clubs in our local area on a number of avenues, we have a very good relationship with Sunderland AFC and when the opportunity arose to host the ladies games we jumped at the chance.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for the club and the town for us to bring ladies professional football the local area, we have a girls section within the junior club that is growing at a rapid rate and we are a host venue for the Durham FA Wildcats Events (all girl coaching courses) so the addition of professional ladies game playing at the sports ground will bring a great benefit to the club but also raise the profile of the female game across the town.

"We are really looking forward to welcoming Melanie Reay (SAFC ladies coach) and the squad along with the opposing teams to our facilities. The partnership allows our young female members to be part of the match day event also as flag bearers, mascots, ball girls etc. I encourage the local community to pop along on match days and show your support."

The first scheduled game will take place on Sunday 10th November, 2pm KO @ The Energy Check Sports Ground.

Entry costs are £3 Adult, £1 Concession with SAFC Season Ticket holders entry costing £1.50 (Season card must be shown).
