The club are pleased to share it has been successful in receiving a Football Foundation Grant as part of the available "Football Stadia Improvement Fund" to support the development of a purpose built 168 seated covered stand on the site of Hebburn Sports Ground.
With the clubs ambitions to progress through the non-league pyramid, that requires it's ground grading standards to improve in line with the FA's requirements to ensure both spectator comfort and safety.
The club has seen lots of progress in its ground developments over the past six years, all of which have been self-funded and with specific funding available via the Football Foundations Stadia Improvement Fund it has enabled the club to focus ahead of plan on meeting ground grading requirements for the leagues above it in the non-league pyramid. The installation of the stand will take the grounds "covered seating" capacity to 500 thus ensuring spectators can watch a game comfortably and without being impacted by the weather.
Chief Executive Stephen Rutherford shared "We are really happy that the hard work and diligence that's been put into this phase of the clubs development at the ground has been rewarded with the positive news of the grant from the Football Foundation. Alongside the grant a lot of work has went into planning and gaining the appropriate approvals from our local authority to allow us to continue the clubs ambitious progress "off the field" whilst our males and female first teams do the business on it. The new stand will also have a dedicated raised, covered area for wheelchairs to allow spectators with a disability to also enjoy the games in a comfortable environment. This new stand will also complement our recently installed new outside toilet block and match day cafe, all adding to a fantastic spectator environment and offering. Work has already started on preparing the site for the installation works to start in the next few weeks. I'd like to personally thank all of those club volunteers and owners who have put a lot of work into this project as well as our partners at South Tyneside Council, The FA, Durham County FA and The Football Foundation make it all happen".
The new stand will be located at the Victoria Road side of the ground with a view of completion by the end February 2024 allowing spectators to enjoy our remaining home games in a even better environment.
