The Lowdown

Hebburn made it ten wins in a row on Thursday night as they came from behind to beat Ashington 4-1 at a windy Hebburn Sports Ground.

Connor Thomson put the Colliers into an early lead, but the Hornets turned it around before the break, thanks to Olly Martin's low finish and a Robbie Spence header.

After the break captain Amar Purewal grabbed his 30th goal of the campaign and Leo Robinson added to the scoreline just minutes after coming off the bench.

The result sent the Hornets to the top of the table with three massive games remaining as they look to secure their highest ever league finish.

Belper were last in action on Saturday, when the Nailers lost 5-0 at home to Cleethorpes Town with the goals coming from an Alex Flett brace, Paul Walker, Harvey Tomlinson and Curtis Bateson.

Belper finished the game with nine men after Ben Rhodes and Kevin Bastos were dismissed in either half. Jordon Cooke was also sent off for the visitors.

The Nailers are now in 7th place, but will still be looking to make the play offs due to their games in hand.

Head-to-Head

The reverse fixture in November was the first ever meeting between the two sides, with Hebburn running out 3-0 winners.

Phil Watt was sent off for the home side midway through the first half and Amar Purewal gave the Hornets the lead on the stroke of half time.

Further goals from Robbie Spence and Liam Murray ensured that the three points returned to South Tyneside.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Hebburn Manager Daniel Moore continued to reiterate how 'proud' he was of his team following the Ashington game.

Looking ahead to Saturday, Moore said "we need the support of everyone in the town. We are small, together community that is punching well above our weight. This week has been particularly challenging due to the amount of games we have had and the travel involved."

Moore continued, "we are going to attack this challenge head on and I urge every single person, from the juniors all the way through to our loyal supporters and the residents of the town, to get along and give the players and staff the support we need to do something that has never been done in the 112 year history of the club."
