Hebburn Town are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Adam Richardson on an initial one month loan from Sunderland AFC, subject to FA and NPL approval.
The highly rated 21 year old shot stopper has progressed through the ranks with the Black Cats and has made 17 Premier League 2 appearances in the last two seasons.
Richardson linked up with Guiseley for a loan spell in March 2023, but saw it cut short due to injury soon afterwards.
He remains highly valued by Academy of Light staff and recently signed a long term contract, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2026.
On Richardson's arrival, Goalkeeper Coach Carl Morris said, "Adam is a very highly rated goalkeeper and after speaking with Maddo (Jonny Maddison) at Sunderland, everyone agreed it comes at a good time."
Morris added, "Kieran has been top class for us, but has recently been playing a lot of games while carrying a couple of minor injuries so this gives him the opportunity to rest and recharge, which you don’t normally get. It adds more competition with Callum out doing so well at Northallerton, the goalkeeper department is very strong. We are looking forward to welcoming Adam into the group."
Manager Daniel Moore added, "Adam is a very highly rated goalkeeper at Sunderland and has been close to an EFL loan move in recent weeks."
“The opportunity to get him on board has came at the perfect time for us as Kieran has been playing through knocks in recent games and has played a lot of football since pre-season."
“It is going to provide competition within the goalkeeping department with Callum doing really well out on loan at Northallerton and Kieran having a very good start to the season.”
We would like to wish Adam all the best during his loan spell with the club.
